We recently carried out a heating boiler replacement at a Junior School nearby our Head Office in Sutton Coldfield.
We replaced the old floor standing open-flued heating boiler for a new modern condensing alternative. This offers a
more efficient and reliable heating source for this associated block of the school, in time for the colder months approaching.

Every year 3D Facilities Support organise a fundraising event. This year we are raising money for Birmingham Children’s
Hospital, in particular the It Starts Here appeal.
The It Starts Here appeal will enable BCH to transform the current main entrance at the Hospital into a world of wonder
for over 100,000 brave young patients and their families that walk through the front door each and every year. To find out
more about this appeal, view their YouTube video.
In a weeks time our Engineers and Office Staff are completing the worlds fastest zip line, ‘Velocity’. This zip
line is 1555 metres long and can take you up to speeds of over 100mph. Some staff members don’t like heights so
this will be interesting!
A number of individuals working here at 3D Facilities have personal experience of being assisted by Birmingham Children's Hospital
and have witnessed first-hand the tireless work BCH do to ensure our children have the best possible care, and would like to thank
them and would love to contribute toward this great cause.

Many Thanks – All at 3D Facilities Support.
One of our contracted schools reported that they had major concerns of excessive heat from the floor in certain areas.
After a site visit and inspection from our surveyor, they found there was a potential leak within the void underground.
An instruction was received to carry out an R&D asbestos survey and lift a manhole to gain access into the void to inspect
any potential leaks.
A leak was identified on the hot water pipework below ground which was not easily accessible, so some of the floor had to be removed by our licensable asbestos removal company as the R&D survey picked up AIB within the void. After a reoccupation certificate was issued by our asbestos company following the clearance works, the section of the hot water pipework was replaced for new within the void area and a new concrete shuttering and slab was formed in the floor. A new manhole cover was installed for future inspections/isolations and a new anti-slip flooring in place.
3D Facilities were delighted to be invited by The Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP) to contribute toward their
annual staff conference, and continue our support for local schools within the trust.
As one of the group's primary service partners, we took value engaging with both new and existing clients amidst 1500+
staff members joined by key note speakers and a number of special guests to welcome schools back into the new academic year.
A school informed 3D of a potential underground leak on the heating circuit within a void.
The school requested the heating pipework to be rerouted and surface mounted due to reports of potential asbestos
present within the void. We then sent a design spec to the school to reroute 140 metres of 4” heating pipework around
the perimeter of the roof to facilitate their request.
The old pipework was decommissioned and cut out of position within the boiler house and also in the building where the pipework feeds. We then converted from 4” steel to 108mm carbon maypress, routing from the boiler house to high level, around the perimeter of the courtyard roof and back down into the building, connection onto the existing 4” flanges. Trace heating (frost protection) was installed onto the flow and return pipework to prevent freezing in the low temperatures.
The new pipework was then insulated using 25mm silver foil faced insulation, then a PIB protective sheeting to add a protective
layer to the exposed insulation. Appropriate identification tape and warning notices were then added to the PIB sheeting, showing
directional arrows of heating pipework and 240v for the trace heating wiring within the insulation.
Pipework all filled and tested ready for the start of the school term.
We recently built and installed 2 of these health and safety management boards for a valued customer in the wholesale and distribution sector in Birmingham. This helps organise, centralise and improve efficiency of health and safety in the workplace.

With an existing smaller canopy in place, our catering engineers were tasked with the installation of a new larger
kitchen canopy in a Residential Care Home.
With the installation of this type of equipment there is a constant check of compliance requirements. In some instances, such as this, additional work
is needed to meet these requirements and to ensure a safe working environment.
We isolated the gas and electrical supplies and removed old gas pipework and old canopy, then installed the new
canopy with new gas pipework to the new appliance. We installed a new emergency gas solenoid valve, new ventilation/gas
interlock panel and a new emergency stop button. For fresh air we installed a new supply air fan motor, external grille
and internal filter section, installed all new control wiring for all the new equipment ensuring they are fully
interlocked with each other. We also relocated the lighting and fitted new light units to make room for the larger canopy.
Following completion of the works, our client now enjoys a much safer and comfortable work environment.
If you require any catering upgrades, safety compliance checks or improvements, contact us today and a member of our team
will be happy to assist you.
3D Facilities were delighted to once again take part in Bishop Vesey Grammar School’s annual golf day
continuing our proud partnership with the BVGS networking group, engaging with local business and
supporting one of our local grammar schools and their students.
Sponsoring the 1st hole, our team ended joint leaders but unfortunately just missed out on top prize!
The summer conferences keep rolling! We were recently delighted to be invited to attend Eastwood Hall at
our latest networking event to exhibit for schools in the East Midlands region. Exciting enquiries have
already stemmed through meeting various business leaders across the ABLE network to see how we can assist
their school.
We’ll back in October for more!
In recognition of our recent hard work and success, all office staff spent the evening celebrating at our favourite local Italian
restaurant, treated by our managing director. Cheers Neil!
Here’s to an equally successful 2nd half of the year!
We’d like to welcome Sam who’s joined us on work experience throughout the summer break after completing his exams before
heading off to college in September.
As proud sponsors of Sutton United TT FC (captained by our Service Director, Phil Davis) we would like
to congratulate them in a largely successful campaign for the team as they finished 3rd in the highly
competitive Sutton District Sunday League Premier Division, and were finalists of the League Cup (held
at Boldmere St. Michael’s Football Club below).
Looking forward to supporting the boys next season as they prepare for another run at silverware!
3D Facilities have continued to invest in our staff, having recently welcomed 3 new senior HVAC engineers and a plumbing apprentice to complement our team of highly-skilled field engineers, proceeded with renewals of PASMA and IPAF qualifications alongside specialist manufacturer courses, embarked on our ISO9001 accreditation and renewed our company CHAS certification and Constructionline membership as we continue to strive for ongoing betterment.
One of our existing clients wanted to upgrade their reception desk and welcome area. Working with a specialist
office furniture designer, we created a bespoke reception desk with 3D mock-up and after confirmation, manufactured
the bespoke furniture.
Our skilled fitters and electricians decommissioned the electrics and removed the old reception desk and floor
covering. We then relocated the electrical floor boxes and data points in the concrete reception floor for the
new desk position, replacing with new flooring. The new reception desk was then installed.
What a transformation!
If your reception / welcome area is looking tired or you would like a bespoke reception desk, get in touch with us
and see what we can do for you.
Offered to all contracted customers, 3D Facilities continue to support clients with rapid response times as demonstrated
below. Having swiftly attended the below site to address a heating issue, our engineer performed an immediate survey
where asbestos was suspected within the duct void. We performed asbestos air monitoring to reveal no asbestos within the
air inside the duct void, but samples within the pipework lagging did in fact reveal asbestos was present.
As asbestos awareness forms part of our engineers mandatory Health & Safety modules, our operatives took the necessary
protection steps to perform an inspection inside the duct void to locate a leak to a 4” pipe just as it entered the
external wall and exited the building underground. To carry out the repair and replace a section of the deteriorated
pipe, access to the ground where the pipe leaves the building was required.
After excavating the ground and removing the wall around the pipe as it exited the building from the duck void, our engineers cut out and removed the section of damaged pipe, replaced with new pipework and insulation, repaired the wall and backfilled the ground around the new pipework. We then refilled and vented the heating system, performed testing and commissioning of the system.
We have recently carried out a Gym Floor upgrade in a Sports Hall Gymnasium at a school and replaced
268m2 of Sprung Flooring.
The works entailed uplift, removal and disposal of the existing old sprung flooring and skirting boards, leaving
existing timber struts in place as they were in good condition, to utilise for the new flooring.
A moisture chemical treatment and damp-proof liquid membrane were applied to the concrete in between the existing
timber struts, before installing 268m2 of Moisture Resistant Flooring with a commercial grade sports floor finish.
The school are really pleased with the upgrade to their sports hall gymnasium.
As part of our continuing support within the local community, we were proud to sponsor the Sutton Town Girls
under 16s Netball team when they reached the England Netball U16 National Club Finals.
The England Netball U16 National Club Finals, in association with the British Army, brings together the top
18 teams in the U16 age category from across the country. The Sutton Town girls travelled to the Stadium of
Light in Sunderland to compete in the two day competition, making their club proud finishing in 10th place.
Massive congratulations from all at 3D Facilities Support!
One of our newly contracted clients challenged us with the task of providing a more feasible, practical and comfortable
temperature controlled environment in their 1st floor open plan office area. Following a site visit from our Technical
Director, we designed a system that will keep the area a comfortable temperature and can be controlled and monitored
remotely which has the benefit of our engineers being able to diagnose, and in some instances resolve issues much quicker
and for our client to be able to alter the climate easier and quicker than standard wall mounted user controls.
These 6 No. 12kW void units were originally installed with standard wall mounted controls but our client opted for a
bespoke BMS system. This system allows us to monitor, diagnose and resolve issues much faster, and
also allows the client a much more user friendly control over their office climate, adding scheduling, set points and
presence features. This 'smart' system can be integrated into lighting and other services at a later date, when these
services are updated/replaced.
If the above is of interest or you require a 'smarter' managed system, feel free to contact a member of
our team to see how we can help you.
As part of a larger overall improvement drainage project at a site for one of our clients, we supplied and
installed a GRU-Auto 4 Automatic Grease Trap to serve the kitchen area. This unit is to prevent grease
and fat particles entering the external drain.
We removed and modified all existing waste pipework to the kitchen appliances this unit was going to serve,
installed a new electrical power supply and installed all new waste services to the brand new external
drainage systems.
Further waste improvements were also required to the external drain. Click here
to view that project.
3D Facilities Support also provide ground works and drainage services.
One of our contracted clients were having drainage issues so we performed a CCTV inspection of the issue.
The inspection revealed a collapsed drain.
We excavated the area and installed two new roddable gullies and 10m of 100mm waste pipe connecting to the
existing foul manhole with a new sealed manhole cover. All the trenches were then backfilled and the area
made good. Installation of brand new waste pipe from the kitchen area to the new gully.
Further waste improvements were also recommended and made in the kitchen area. Click here
to view that project.
We recently assisted a valued customer in the education sector. One of our engineers identified an existing
gas fired water heater to have split internally and was beyond repair on the first day of the half term break
during routine maintenance. We quoted, processed and installed a new heater in the half term week to minimise
disruption for the school and have a new reliable hot water source present upon their return.
The bulk of the works were completed with the old unit being removed and the new water heater installed,
commissioned and operational within one day, and the job completed within four days of the issue being
identified by our engineer.
During the Half Term period we scheduled a number of improvement projects and maintenance tasks that require
areas to be out-of-use for an extended period of time.
One of these projects was for a client who wanted easier access to a cabin room. An access ramp was required
to allow wheelchair users much easier access to this secondary school class room so it is accessible by all.
An access ramp is a great improvement to allow pushchair and wheelchair access to an otherwise restrictive
room or building.
With most BASBM members now returning from half-term, we at 3D Facilities Support wanted to share our appreciation and delight at having been given the opportunity to continually support the BASBM conference, recently held at the prestigious Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
Over the course of this week we will be reaching out to all of those who took the time to come and talk with us, both existing customers in attendance along with those new faces and prospective clients, to see how we can help you tackle all of your statutory compliance needs in 2024 together!
As the proud winner of last year's 'Small Business of the Year' award, and were proud sponsors of the award this year.
We attended the Royal Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield & Tamworth and Cannock Chase awards dinner and had a great evening networking and celebrating with other businesses at the Belfry Hotel. Our Service Director, Phil Davis presented the award to this year's winners, Ark Media.
Congratulations to all winners on the night from the team at 3D Facilities Support.
With 2023 nearly at a close, it’s been a pleasure to review the challenging but positive year we’ve had at 3D
Facilities Support, in a developing and competitive sector; financial growth of 20%, increasing our customer
portfolio whilst achieving a 98% retention rate of customers, adding new employees and contractors, albeit with
many tests along the way.
It’s not very often we manage to gather our whole team together, so to have the majority of our direct employed
staff come together for our annual Christmas party at Belfry Hotel was great fun.
We have clear, ambitious targets set for 2024, which we believe will be another positive year for everyone involved
at 3D and all of our customers.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2024!
We would like to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We decided this year to give a donation to the ‘Crisis at Christmas 2023’ appeal, matching the cost we would
ordinarily spend on the purchase and post of these cards.
We have added the below link to the ‘Crisis at Christmas 2023’ appeal if you would also like to donate to this worthy cause.

We are thrilled to announce that on November 22nd, 3D Facilities Support will once again be in attendance at the NEC School and Academies Show. Following the success of last year’s show, we can’t wait to be back!
As established service providers in the education sector, we would very much encourage and appreciate any attendees drop by our stand (G14) and say hello to our friendly team!
Internally we have the capacity to replace existing BMS systems, and in this instance, replace an old, inefficient and impractical ‘Schneider Jel’ system with a vastly better, user-friendly touchscreen keypad.
This upgrade has allowed the site to take control of its internal processes. This has led to them being able to reduce energy waste and costs whilst still maintaining comfort for their occupants.
All of our clients will shortly be receiving our Christmas mail-shot, as an appreciation and thanks for our continued working relationship, and a sneak preview into what’s to come in 2024!
During the last half-term period, one of the major projects that 3D Facilities completed was at a local secondary school. The request was to refurbish the secondary school’s toilet facilities. This included the decommissioning of existing services, replacing the flooring, associated plumbing and decorative works with enclosed vanity units to suit.
The refurbishment took the old, run-down toilet facilities and turned them into modern and stylish facilities for the students to use at the start of the new term and beyond.
Recently, 3D Facilities installed a cold water booster pump replacement set at Moxhull Hall, a renowned wedding, conference and hotel venue.
They contacted 3D Facilities after suffering from persistent issues with water pressure affecting the distribution of both hot and cold water throughout the establishment.
Our replacement pump was able to effectively resolve this ongoing issue and the venue's water distribution system is now fully operational.
In response to a request from a school to increase security on site, we’ve recently completed the installation of a 196 x 2m mesh fencing perimeter.
This surrounded the entirety of the school’s sports field, including various points of access through pedestrian gates, ensuring an increase in the
safety and wellbeing of their students.

A percentage discount can be applied to both renewals and new contracts across all sectors that we work with. This is a cost-effective option for customers
with increasingly tight budget constraints.
If you would like to discuss entering into a contract with us or renewing your contract for a longer agreement, get in touch with our team today.
As the Easter holidays are fast approaching, we wanted to showcase some key works that you can have completed during this time.
Above are images taken from asbestos removal works we recently carried out in an underground pipework duct in one of our contracted schools. One of the school’s heating systems pipework zones had a large leak that had been affecting areas of the school.
Once the asbestos was removed and the works had been signed off with clearance and safe occupancy certification, we replaced the
leaking sections of pipework to get the school’s heating system operational again, see the above image of completed works.
There are various other intrusive works that can be completed within school holidays to minimise disruptions, such as legionella
remedial works, manipulation of TMVs (installations or adjustments), deep cleans, interior and exterior refurbishments and risk
assessments to name just a few.
If you would like to speak to a member of our team to discuss your needs and see how we can help, get in contact with us today.

A customer in London within the education sector, contacted us with concerns of their existing boilers supplying heating and hot water to one of their
blocks on site. We surveyed and quoted a cost effective solution, carrying out the replacement of two 60kW boilers.
The two old Hamworthy boilers were removed, along with the previous flue system and redundant associated services. We installed two new Ideal EvoMax
60kW boilers with horizontal flue kits and boiler specific shunt pumps to suit, carrying out modifications to pipework and electrical services to each
boiler. The new boilers were reconfigured to the school’s existing BMS controls system, ensuring the school’s heating and hot water continued to be
controlled efficiently.
At 3D Facilities Support, we have recently introduced Asset Tagging/QR Coding into our servicing regimes, allowing for instantaneous asset management and condition
reports, for all contracted customers free to the point of use. This will apply to all current HVAC components such as heating appliances inc. gas and oil, air
conditioning units, associated plant inc. water heaters, expansion vessels, pressurisation units and any future installed plant as and when necessary.
Asset Tagging/QR Coding allows us to work more efficiently as they enable us to facilitate service history in a streamlined manner. They easily provide locations,
makes, models and serial numbers and highlight warranty periods. Imagery such as thumbnails showing locations and current conditions of the equipment are attached
to each asset to allow our engineers to see exactly what we are discussing when servicing, diagnosing or investigating.
They also assist in future budget allocation. Based on the general condition of each asset, previous installation dates, previous history of any issues and estimated
budget replacement costs, our team can forecast the general life expectancy of any singular piece of equipment, while also being able to predict when a replacement
will be required.
As we enter 2023, we have decided to begin producing a bi-monthly newsletter to keep you updated on everything that we have going on at 3D Facilities Support.
Our newsletters will give you information about completed projects, internal news stories, and keep you in the loop about 3D Facilities milestones and
achievements, not to mention providing you with top tips and insights into facilities management best practice including compliance requirements to keep your
buildings safe and operational.
At 3D, we have a wealth of services that we offer, making us an all encompassing support organisation, capable of handling anything that you throw at us. For
more information about the services that we offer, please click the link below to see a fully detailed list.
